Who is Elizabeth Martinez?
Elizabeth began dancing at an early age learning numerous dance disciplines in modern and Latin dance. She has studied with several renowned instructors (Duplessey Walker, Jorday Rivera, Candy Mena, Frankie Martinez, Thomas Guerrero, Carlito Figueroa, etc.) in Mambo/Salsa and with her final mentor, the world renowned Mambo King - Eddie Torres. As a former member of the Eddie Torres Latin Dance Company in New York, she trained as a professional performer for several years with her former partner of Joshua Gomes and practiced with Adolfo Indacochea before moving to Miami, Florida in 2006.
Elizabeth is a professional performer, choreographer and instructor teaching various workshops throughout the United States which includes dance schools, festivals, congresses, private companies and cultural institutions such as the Brooklyn Academy of Music, Brooklyn Children's Museum and the Central Park Conservancy of New York. She has also performed with some of the top salsa musicians in the salsa industry such as Larry Harlow, Ray Sepulveda, Chino "El Timbalero", and the Tito Puente family.
Today, Elizabeth teaches partnerwork and ladies styling classes illustrating core styling techniques that she so eloquently demonstrates. She instills confidence in her students by teaching them the fundamental techniques and to dance from the heart. She continues to enrich her dancing background by incorporating various dance disciplines such as Belly dance, Pole dancing, Tango, Flamenco and African.
What to Expect:
A salsa solo footwork class with tricks geared towards women. Learn how to swing those hips, gracefully move those hands and embrace feminine energy. This class provides you the skills to be able to follow the lead of any partner or hold your own as a soloist. No prior salsa dance experience required.

Ladies' learn how to add grace, fluidity and balance to their spins through an intense spinning technique drills built to help the student learn to spot, isolate and spin in multiples ways with and without a partner. AFRO-CUBAN DANCE with LIVE DRUMMING
Professor: Elena Garcia

Elena Garcia holds a degree in Modern Dance and Cuban Folklore from the National School of the Arts of Cuba. She was a company member of the prestigious Conjunto Folklorico Nacional de Cuba. Her style is very unique with a Latin twist combined with various ethnic and contemporary forms of movements. Ms. Garcia’s international credits include working as an instructor, dancer and choreographer in Spain, Germany, Argentina and the Dominican Republic. In the last twenty years, Ms Garcia has been a frequent guest of different Dance Festivals including the Florida Dance Festival in Miami, Florida, the Hispanic Festival at the Global Education Center in Nashville, Tennessee, the “Fa Nyere Fa Annual African Dance & Drum Conference” in Atlanta, Georgia and the Summer Dance Institute of Cleo Parker Robinson Dance in Denver, Colorado; and now she is our guest at Step N Dance home of Salsabor Tropical.

Unveiling of U.S. post office Mambo Stamp-Mambo Night

The Miami Beach Arts Trust presented:
“ Mambo Night,” Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2005 / a miami salsa event
to celebrate the unveiling of the U.S. Post Office “Mambo Stamp” by local artist, Sergio Baradat. The event was held from 6:30-9:30 pm at the Miami Beach Botanical Gardens, 2000 Convention Center Drive in Miami Beach.
The event was free and open to the public.
The program began with a 6:30 p.m. cocktail time, with "Mambo Tapas" by Diane Cooks followed by an interactive discussion on the history, culture and style of Mambo, with the legendary Mambo dancer, Cuban Pete. Artist Baradat talked about his work and how his mambo stamp design became a part of the stamp series "Let's Dance/Bailemos."
The Salsabor Tropical Dance Company then presented a mambo demonstration and instruction, inviting the audience to mambo (7:30-9:30 p.m.). Mambo music provided by WDNA Community Public Radio.

Mambo Night was part of the MBAT "Brown Bag, Evening Bag" series for building awareness for local artists, arts venues, and issues of interested in the arts.

In Loving Memory of Vilmarie Nixon a.k.a."Villie".

This was a full day event held at Congas Night Club, with workshops, dancing, and shows to raise funds for villie's medical expenses.
The event was put together for the entire community to unite and help someone in need, "Villie". She was diagnosed with Acute Leukemia, and needed a bone marrow transplant. Many people attended and took part in this event. All of the people involved in making this event happen donated their talent and time to make this event possible. Villie's family thank you for all your support, cooperation and donations.
Villie was Tony Duarte' sister in-law. Tony was able to organize this event with the support of friends & colleagues including all the DJs and Instructors. Thank you to all.

Bernard specializes in New York style men & ladies styling, partnering and shines. Bernard is the founder and director of "Mambo Caliente Nights" in NYC.

Broward County Children's Cultural Arts Festival
Funded by The Broward County Cultural Arts Council. On Saturday October 5th, 2002; Salsabor Tropical taught and performed Salsa/Mambo for children and adults at "A Place to Grow" Preschool. 2250 SW 31 Ave., Ft. Lauderdale. There were shows presented by the following performers. Drums of Polynesia, Gold Coast Music Therapy, Musica venture, Jazz Slam Music, Once upon a story, Accordion Player, and Salsabor Tropical.
Boricua.com Food Drive
Boricua.com, in association with the Daily Bread Food Bank, ran a Food Drive on October 18, 2002 at the Meridien Night Club in Hollywood, Fl; It began at 9:00 PM with Tony Duarte from Salsabor Tropical teaching a "Free" N. Y. / P. R. style Salsa/Mambo on "2" dance lesson. After the free lesson everyone enjoyed the best Salsa, and Merengue with DJ Elliott. Suggested Donation were two cans of food for the Daily Bread Food Bank. Boricua.com was there to meet and greet everyone who attended. Plenty of photos were taken and posted on Boricua.com. Thank you for supporting our First Ever Food Drive.
